A recent study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology revealed that drinking two to three cups of coffee daily could extend people’s lives and could also help prevent heart disease. The investigations included various types of coffee, ground, instant, and decaffeinated. Read on to learn a little more about the research findings.
Coffee improves health
Many people are wrong when they think that avoiding coffee solves their health problems. Drinking two to three cups of coffee a day helps to extend life. It also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Researcher Peter Kistler, from the Baker Heart and Diabetes Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, stated that “in this large observational study, ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee was associated with equivalent reductions in the incidence of cardiovascular disease and death from cardiovascular disease or for whatever reason.”
“The results suggest that light to moderate consumption of ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee should be considered part of a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
The scientists were motivated to carry out this research by the lack of studies on the impact of coffee on health, especially the heart. Cardiovascular diseases are: coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, and ischemic stroke.
The researcher felt that the findings indicate that modest amounts of coffee of all types should not be avoided but can be enjoyed as a heart-healthy behavior.
